The Causeway Coast makes a wondrous route to
drive through, following the curve of Northern
Ireland’s tip (and it’s a great tour idea for Game of
Thrones fans). The small town of Ballycastle sits at
the eastern end of this journey. For a memorable
photo opportunity, visit the town’s Carrick-a-Rede
Rope Bridge which stretches above the ocean and
connects to a small island. Or, opt for a ferry trip to
Rathlin Island, where Atlantic puffins and kittiwakes
can be spotted by sharp-eyed visitors.

St Andrews in Fife might be renowned for its
prestigious university (it’s the oldest in Scotland) and
golfing heritage, but it also boasts West Sands, two
miles of beach backed by rolling dunes. It’s just a 15
minute walk from the centre of the town, a beautiful
landscape for walking and swimming in the warmer
months. Speaking of golf, the Old Course - the
oldest golf course in the world - is nearby, where
groups of up to 24 people can organise guided tours
to take in the famous links. The Botanic Garden is
an alternative for garden-loving groups, with its rock
gardens, ponds and heated glasshouses.

Where to stay

Devon: TLH Leisure Resort has four hotels to choose
from in Torquay, each with its own character – from
period features to sea views and spa treatments. Each
can be booked year round and are suited for dance
breaks, festive getaways or bowls holidays.

Norfolk: Groups in the county can make their
base (and find plenty to do) at Potters Resort in
Hopton on Sea, whether it’s for relaxing mid-week
breaks, jam-packed weekends or one-night stays.
Almost everything is included in the price: bungalow
accommodation, full board meals, extensive sports and
leisure facilities, and entertainment in the state-of-
the-art Atlas Theatre.

Blackpool: The Best Western Carlton Hotel is
ideally located on the North Promenade, within
walking distance of popular landmarks and
shopping destinations.

Scotland: The prestigious University of St Andrews
doubles up as group accommodation during the
summer months, with en-suite rooms available and
value rates for groups of 20 or more.

Isle of Wight: To best explore Shanklin on the Isle of
Wight, visitors can check-in to Daish’s flagship hotel,
conveniently situated on the high street in what was
once a coaching inn. Period features aren’t the only
appeal; groups can make the most of good weather
with the large garden and sun terrace, while enjoying
a sweet treat from the hotel’s coffee shop, and look
forward to live entertainment every evening, from
cabaret to quizzes.

Wales: Groups in Wales can stay close to the shore
at Barmouth Bay, an Away Resorts holiday park that
has a new play area, hot tubs and direct access to the
beach. Plus, the peaks of Snowdonia are within reach.

  • Groups can stay at the University of St Andrews in
Scotland, which boasts plenty of heritage.
