N

ever before have we experienced
such restrictions on our lives and
I’m sure I’m not alone in suddenly
appreciating things so much more.
From the little things (the freedom
to meet friends for coffee, or pop to the shops) to
the freedom of travel. Of course it’s a love of seeing
new places and friendship that glues the group travel
community together.

I’ve been moved by so many of your comments,
particularly from group organisers and tour operators

  • but above all it’s been great to hear what you’re doing
to stay connected and positive. One organiser told me
“it’s going to be a very busy 2021”, there’ll certainly be
much lost time to make up for. There’s no doubt that in
making up for lost time, those experiences, whether it’s
heading to a beautiful garden for a group day trip, going
to the West End or a holiday overseas, will feel all the
more valuable and all the more memorable.

Until then, it has been fantastic to see so much
creativity in travel to keep us hopeful and inspired
through this unprecedented time. I was transported
to the London Palladium to watch the Wind in the
Willows musical - I even went in my PJs! There have
been many more examples of these experiences
and we’ve been sharing some of our favourites at
groupleisureandtravel.com.

Amid so much uncertainty, one thing is for sure -
we are here for you. Whether that’s bringing you
interesting articles to read on the website or
inspiration through the pages of the magazine.
We’re going to make sure we stay connected to as
many of you as possible - and we’d love to hear from
you about how you’re staying sociable (email us at
[email protected]).

Freedom to travel will

taste so much sweeter

Editor’s Note

We know how far in advance groups plan outings and
holidays, but even more so in this edition the content
is focussing on sunnier times ahead - and there will be
plenty. I hope you enjoy the read and pick up plenty
of ideas.
