Holiday of a lifetime, every time.
Plan ahead with a
trip to South Devon
Groups and tour operators are being encouraged to explore what
the area has to offer with the introduction of new group itineraries,
launched by Visit South Devon. Hoping to ‘influence tour
programmes for 2021 onwards’, there’s a new group travel area on
the tourist board’s website, featuring visit suggestions to places like
Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Ashburton.
Thanks to partnerships with these local towns, the itineraries
highlight key attractions for groups. Exmouth, for example,
is a regional centre for kayaking, paddleboarding and other
watersports, and its itinerary includes “useful information such as
parking opportunities for coaches.”
Dartmouth’s itinerary recommends a visit to Dartmouth Castle
and a tour of Britannia Royal Naval College, while in Ashburton,
suggested group activities include an antiques trail and walking
routes through Dartmoor National Park.

The new ITV series created by Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes
features plenty of dramatic on-screen sites that could make a
memorable group visit in the future. Locations around England and
Scotland appear in the period drama, which follows the fortunes and
intrigues of aristocratic families in early 19th century London.
Standing in for the streets of London’s Belgravia district is Moray
Place in Edinburgh, with its elegant townhouses. And near the city is
Hopetoun House, a grand country property on the banks of the Firth
of Forth whose interiors star on the show.
In England, Bath’s Assembly Rooms make an appearance in
Belgravia as the setting of a ball, taking place on the eve of the
Battle of Waterloo.
