Step 2:Selectyourmonitors
Onceyoufigureoutyourgraphicscardsituation,it’s
timeforthefunpart:obtainingextramonitors.In
general,monitorsarefairlycheapthesedays.Assuming
you can’t wangle a hand-me-down, a 24in monitor with
an IPS screen will run you around £100, you can get a
24in TN screen, which will likely trade strong off-axis
viewingfora lowerresponsetime– somethinggamers
mightprefer–forroughlythesamemoney.
Of course, the perfect monitor for you depends on
multiple factors, including the monitors you already
have,thesizeofyourdesk,andwhatyou’replanning
onusingyourextramonitorfor.
In my case, I already had two 24in monitors, and I
wanted a larger monitor as the centrepiece of my set-
up,soI pickedupa 27inunitandplacedit between
mytwo24indisplays.I’mnotusingmymulti-monitor
set-up to play multi-monitor games, so the difference in
sizes (and the difference in heights – my 27in monitor’s
standholdsmy27-incheraboutoneinchhigherthan
my24iners)isn’tanissueforme.However,ifyou’re
planning on doing a lot of gaming or watching videos
thatspanmultiplemonitors,thisheightdifferencewill
makeforanot-so-seamlessexperience.
Before you buy your monitors, you’ll also want to
makesuretheyhaveinputportsthatcorrespondwith
yourPC’soutputports.Whileyoucoulduseconversion
