We all spend a lot of time playing online with our

friends in co-op or battle royales, but sometimes

the thing you need most is to settle into a good

videogame story, one with an interesting and well-

drawn central protagonist. Where would we be
without Halo’s Master Chief, for example, showing

the way for all humanity (not to mention every

FPS since) — and unsurprisingly the Chief leads

OXM’s list as we celebrate the Heroes of Xbox

from page 54 this month. You might not know her
yet, but there’s also our cover game’s hero, Jesse,

star of Remedy’s forthcoming Control. Remedy

have always had strong characters, from Max

Payne to Alan Wake, and Jesse looks like she’ll be

a great hero, too. Find out more about the game

and OXM’s trip to Remedy HQ from page 44! As
usual we’ve also packed the mag with Xbox news,

previews, reviews, interviews and more. Enjoy!

In a month where
FromSoftware is making
us weep with frustration
once more, we asked
the team what game
they’re proudest of
beating? Chris: “100 per
centing Assassin’s Creed
Brotherhood. Took ages
finding all those bloody
feathers. Was it worth
it? No. Had to lay off the
series for eight years
after that.”

Xbox needs

its heroes

THE OXM TEAM

Robin Valentine
Contributor
“I completed a Ghost run
of Dishonored on max
difficulty - which means
that I was never spotted,
and never killed anyone.
That’s my proudest game
achievement!”

Adam Bryant
Staff writer
“Completing Outlast
in one sitting, without
saving and without
getting killed. I’ve
never been so terrified
of playing a game in
my entire life.“

Rob Crossland
Art editor
“Completing the main
story four times in the
quickest time possible
in The Division. Just to
create four characters
to play as and swap kit
in the dark zone...”

Drew Sleep
Production editor
“Achieving ending [E] in
Nier: Automata probably
did permanent damage
to my hands, but it was
so worth it for how it
ties into the game’s
core themes.”
