Zoom, Zebra, False Color, Frame Guides, SMPTE Safe
Area, Waveform, RGB parade and vectorscope. Also,
there’s a new multi-view ‘Analysis’ view, support for 3D
and 1D LUTs, Profi le and Preset support and options for
anamorphic desqueeze monitoring.
The monitor uses the Sony type NP-F battery with bat-
tery life reported at up to eight hours at 7800mAh, fi ve
hours at 5200mAh, and two and half hours at 2600mAh.
The Atomos Shinobi is out now for $399.

NEW GEAR

SmallHD’s newest monitor, the Focus 7, enlarges the
original 5-inch Focus monitor to 7 inches without
sacrifi cing its lightweight design.
The Focus 7 touchscreen monitor is said to repre-
sent a “tremendous value” for independent fi lmmak-
ers and small production teams. For $700, buyers will
get a 7-inch monitor with a 1920 x 1200 resolution.
In terms of brightness, the display tops out at 10000
nits. It also off ers 4K HDMI input and 7.2v Power Out-
put. Compared to the Focus OLED, which at launch
was priced at $700 and off ered a 5.5-inch 1920 x
1080 touchscreen display, the Focus 7 improves on all
fronts for the same price.
SmallHD is known for packing in a lot of value for
a good price. When we reviewed both the SmallHD
Focus and Focus OLED, we found both to be quality
monitors for a great price. From what we’re seeing
from the Focus 7, it looks like it’s also priced well for
what it's off ering.

One of the key features to the 5-inch Focus was that
it didn’t add much weight to creators’ setups. While the
Focus 7 is two inches larger, the weight still shouldn’t be
an issue: The new monitor weighs less than a pound.
The Focus 7 is a multipurpose, single input on-camera
monitor. It features a full-size HDMI input that is slightly
recessed to keep a secured connection. It supports 4K
30 signals, and real-time 3D LUTs, monitor profi les and
screen overlays.
You can buy the SmallHD Focus 7 now for $700.

The 5-inch Atomos Shinobi aims to be a great tool for
vloggers working on a budget. By removing the re-
corder, Atomos is able to lower the Shinobi's price to a
budget cost of $399. Compare that to the Atomos Ninja
V’s $695 price tag.
The Shinobi sports a 5.2-inch 1000 nit anti-refl ection
uni-touch IPS panel. While it doesn’t support HDMI
out, it can receive a 4K signal and display it in full HD
through the HDMI input. Additionally, the monitor
shares the Atomos Ninja V’s HDR 1920 x 1080 display
and color processing.
The Atomos Shinobi aims to add fl exibility to cameras
that don’t have a fl ip out screen — an essential feature
for vloggers who record content alone. And it won’t be
adding a ton to the camera payload. It weighs just 200
grams and is built with Polycarbonate ABS construction
— not aluminum like the Ninja V.
Included are monitoring tools for focus, framing
and exposure, including Focus Peaking, 4:1 / 2:1 / 1:

culation system through the MOZA App. The app selects
the optimal parameters based on the total weight of the
gimbal. Latches also help secure the camera and gimbal,
so you can carry the unit around without having to re-
balance anything.
The MOZA AirCross 2 uses a 300mAh battery, so it
should be able to last up to 12 hours on a single charge.
Its battery charges through USB and can be fully charged
in just 1.5 hours. Plus, it weighs a total of 950g, making it
one of the lightest gimbal stabilizers around.

Along with a collection of new Cine and L-mount
lenses, Sigma also recently released a new lens
mount converter that gives L-mount shooters more
lens options.
The counterpart to Sigma’s MC-11 mount converter,
the new Sigma MC-21 mount converter allows Sigma’s
SA mount and EF mount interchangeable lenses to be
mounted onto L-mount cameras.
While still maintaining the lens’ full performance,
the MC-21 allows Sigma EF-mount lenses to work on
Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, including Pana-
sonic's new LUMIX S1 and S1R.
Using a lens mount converter often mean sacri-
fi cing certain features such as autofocus. With this
converter, however. You’ll keep full autofocus and
auto-exposure performance, as well as in-camera cor-
rection and image stabilization performance.
An integrated LED can be used to display Sigma lens
compatibility with the adapted camera body. The adapt-

er also has preloaded lens
data to support peripheral
illumination, chromatic
aberration and distortion
corrective functions.
A removable tripod
mount is also included for
more stable mounting when
you’re working with a longer or
heavier lens.
Here’s a summary of the
converter’s key features:

  • Integrated LED Displays Compatibility

  • Maintains Autofocus and Auto-Exposure

  • Supports In-Camera Correction Features

  • Flocked Interior Reduces Refl ections

  • Removable Tripod Mount

  • Retains EXIF Data
The MC-21 is available for $249.

MOZA has revealed two new products to keep your
camera movement smooth and steady: the MOZA Air-
Cross 2 gimbal and MOZA Slypod monopod.
The Slypod is the world’s fi rst ever motorized mono-
pod. This monopod is built with carbon fi ber, so it weighs
less than 1,000g. However, just because it’s light doesn’t
mean it can’t handle some payloads. It can handle up to
18kg payloads and 12kg horizontal payloads. The Slypod
is built to withstand wind, sand and dust, so you won’t
need to worry if the winds pick up in the middle of your
shoot. The MOZA App controls the telescope length, slid-
ing speed and programmable motion time-lapse. There
is also an optional Remote Handunit.
Next up, the AirCross 2 is designed to handle most
mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Also, it can handle most
microlenses and conventional lenses.
The AirCross 2 holds your camera close to the tilt
motor to help make your shooting more stable. When
you need to balance your set up, the unit uses an AI cal-
