Withthebikestrippedtoabareframe,
thefirstthingtodowasgivetheframea
gooddetail.Timusedwaxandgrease
remover,metalpolishandelbowgreaseto
handcleantheframebacktomintoriginal
look.Thirty-fiveyearsofroadgrimecame
offanditcameuplovely.Hethenfitted
newsteering-headbearings,polishedand
paintedtheloweranduppertriple-trees
(yokestoyouPoms),fittedanignition
switchstickerandwire-wheeledthebolts
whileIstartedontheforkseals.
Theswingarmgotasimilartreatment,
withallbearingsandsealsreplacedwhere
neededandorcleanedandre-packedwith
waterproofgrease.Theshockwasstripped
externally,cleaned,thespringpaintedand
thenitwasallassembledupalongwith
theforks,whichgotnewsealsandoiland
agoodcleanout–includingtheanti-dive.
Lotsoftime-consumingstuffcamenext,
hoursonthewirewheelcleaningOEM
fastenersandsprings,renewingthe

foot-pegsandcarriers,side-stand,horn,

radiator,anychassispartsreally.

Basically,everysinglenut,bolt,washer

andparthavebeencleanedbacktonew,

includingthegear-leversetup,rearbrake

lever,etc.Intheendthechassislookedas

goodasnew,thankstoTim’shardwork

andfussynature.

Thetopfairingbracketandrear

sub-frametail-lightbracketswerecleaned,

sanded,straightenedandpaintedblack;

theactualsub-framewasrepainted

originalsilver.

Withtheheatandthefires,Ireally

didn’tfeelthatmuchlikedrinkingbeerin

thehotshedwhileIworkedontheRZV

duringtheholidayperiod,soIdrankinthe

housemostly,exceptinthemornings

whenitwascooler.Bytheway,someof

youmayfeelIdrinktoomuchbeer,butit

isn’ttrue.IonlyeverdrinkbeerwhenI’m

withotherpeople,orwhenIamonmy

own...Ha!
