MUM’S THE WORD

I K N OW...

Now I’m a mum,

...IADORE
BEING
PREGNANT
Mypartner, Jade,and
I alwayswantedchildren, so the
thoughtofgetting pregnant was
alwaysveryexciting for us. I fell
pregnant when I was probably
at my fittest, while competingin
Strictly Come Dancing. I knowbeing
pregnant isn’t for everyone,but
I loved it! Carrying my childrenand
being spoilt rotten was my ideaof
heaven. Lots of women canhave
difficult pregnancies, so I was
ve ry grateful to be able to enjoy
the time – it really is amazing
how you adapt to all the changes
your body is going through.

...PARENTING IS A
TOTAL WHIRLWIND
My children are very different
from each other, and both have
taught me so much. Being aparent
can be very challenging, andit’s alla

learningcurve, but I’ve never known
lovelike it. We laugh and share
everything with each other,
and my children make me
so happy. I really do believe
parenthood is the most
rewarding job in the world!
The highs far outweigh
the lows, and you learn so
much along the way about
what’s important in life.

...I WORRY A LOT
Motherhood definitely isn’t
easy, and I think one of the main
waysin which I’ve changed since
havingchildren is that I worry a lot
moreaboutthingsnow, and I feel such a huge
responsibility in keeping my babies happy. As
anyparentunderstands, all you want is for your
kids to be safe and healthy and content, but not
everything is always under your control, and
that’s something you learn, particularly as they
older. We have to remember
not to be too hard on
ourselves – there’s no one
way to be a good parent.

...IT’S IMPORTANT TO
BE ECO-FRIENDLY
I am unbelievably excited
about the launch of Kit &
Kin’s reusable cloth nappy.
t’s made from an amazing
material called Econyl,
which is a regenerated
ylon from recovered fishing
ets and other nylon waste,
elping to clean up oceans
nd landfills around the
orld. And the inner layer
the nappy is made from
sustainable and plant-
ed material Tencel, derived
m tree sap and hemp – the
combination of these two creates
a super-soft and highly absorbent
core to keep bottoms dry and
comfy. It’s been quite a journey
to get to this point, and I am so
excited for the response I hope
parents love it as much as I do!

...HOW
QUICKLY
BABIES GROW
Now our children are older,
Jade and I miss those first words
and first steps, and we are
constantly telling our children to
stop getting big! They grow up so fast

  • it feels like only minutes ago that
they were tiny babies. Jade would
have a lot more children, but at
    the moment our two are
    keeping us very busy!

...FAMILY MEANS
EVERYTHING
I think most parents have the same
struggles with balancing work and
family life – it’s not easy, but you have to
try and find a routine that works for you. I’m
really lucky that I have a very supportive
partner in Jade, which allows me to continue
working – I love what I do and I’ve always
had a strong work ethic, but family comes
first. I think it’s important for us to
keep weekends free so that we can
all relax and spend quality
time together.
