achieve this, we used steel beams and a part-truss, part-
conventional roof,” says Dean.
Great care was taken with the selection of materials,
fi nishes and appliances. Downstairs, the fl ooring is a
combination of tiles and carpet while carpet prevails on the
fi rst fl oor, ensuring a luxurious look and feel. In the kitchen,
ensuring a seamless look was essential, hence the use of an
integrated fridge and dishwasher.
“There are many more special touches throughout that
are of note,” adds Dean. “The feature shelving between the
library and dining room, the small cellar with clear-glass
doors and the timber features in the main entry that bring
visual warmth into the home.”
As to the home’s exterior, he says, “The home was built in
an established area so it was important that the style, which
extends to the external fi nishes, fi ts well with the area ensuring
a sense of place, which I believe the designer has achieved.”EXPERT TIP: To warm or soften the look of a classical facade or interior space, use
natural stone cladding for feature walls or introduce timber design elements.
