Using the block layouts as a
reference, lay out your squares,
HSTs and striped squares as shown.

8

Sew the units together row by row.
Press open the seams and then
sew the rows together to complete
the block.

ASSEMBLY

9

The quilt is put together in fi ve
rows of four blocks each. Layout
the blocks, using the quilt diagram as
a guide, or create your own layout.

10

Sew together blocks to create
the rows, being careful to match
the seams.

11

Press open the seams and then
sew the rows together to fi nish
the quilt top.

FINISHING THE QUILT

12

Cut your 3½ yard backing piece
in half and remove the selvedge.
Sew back together along one of the
selvedge edges, to make a piece big
enough for the backing. Using your
preferred method baste the backing
fabric, wadding and quilt front
together ensuring there are a few
extra inches of wadding and backing
fabric each side.

13

Quilt as desired. I chose to use
the diagonals created by the
HSTs as a guide and then quilted
down the striped units.

14

Prepare the binding from
the seven 2½" binding strips
by joining them together at 45°
angles. Fold and press the binding
in half. Bind the quilt using your
preferred method.
