Quilt Now - UK (2020-04)

(Antfer) #1

A

s we go to press, the world looks a little diff erent from last month as we
all adapt to the changes we have to make in light of COVID-19. Many
of us will be staying indoors more than we are used to but I hope that
quilting and this lovely community will bring some comfort. Whether it’s calling
up quilting friends for a chat or sharing your makes in our supportive Facebook
group ( http://www.facebook.com/quiltnow), quilters truly are a wonderful bunch of
sharing and caring people and together we can help one another out and keep
each other inspired during this tricky time.

Plus, if you can’t make it out to the shops then don’t worry as we’re off ering free
UK delivery to your door at http://www.moremags.com so you can keep up to date
with all the latest projects, news and techniques at no extra cost.

This month the talented Janet Goddard shares a brilliant guide to appliqué and
talks you through how to use your appliqué templates to make a one-of-a-kind
fl oor cushion covered with mix and match plants. I can’t wait to see how you are
all using your templates so please do share them with us.

We’re also celebrating the colours of the rainbow with lots of gorgeous designs
to help brighten up your sewing rooms and homes. Paula Steel uses the new
Alison Glass Sun Print collection to great eff ect across our beautiful cover quilt.
Turn to page 12 to fi nd the step-by-step pattern. For more rainbow inspiration,
check out Lou Orth’s Lucky Star baby quilt on page 34 and a great quick-make
strip-pieced cushion on page 94.

I hope you’ll fi nd lots of fun ideas and projects to add to your list inside this
jam-packed issue of Quilt Now. Take care of yourselves everyone and don’t
forget to share your makes with us online using the hashtag #quiltnow.
