HSTs and

From a mix of the main prints, cut:
2 ½" squares (x 9) for sashing squaresFrom binding, cut:
5 2½" x WOF stripsASSEMBLY
For each block you will need:
5" square main print for block centre
6 3½" square main print for HSTs
6 3½" squares solid white for HSTs1
First make all your HST blocks by
pairing, right sides together, one solid
white 3½" square with one main print
3½" square.2
On the wrong side of one square
from each pair, draw a line
diagonally from the top left to the
bottom right.3
Sew a ¼" seam line either side of
this line.4
Separate the two blocks by cutting
along the drawn line from Step 1.FINISHED SIZE: 42" SQUARE

◆ 1 yard solid white
◆ 16 F8ths prints (one for
each block)
◆ 1½ yards backing fabric
◆ ½ yard binding
◆ 50"-square Vlieseline Cotton
Mix 80/20 waddingThings to remember
Use a ¼" seam allowance
throughout unless
otherwise stated

HST – half square triangle

Press the seams between
the steps
5Press and trim all your HST squares
to 2¾". (See Pic A.) Set aside your
finished HST blocks.6
Using the Block Layout Guide,
construct each block. Sewing
together in horizontal rows first, press
and then join vertically. (See Pic B.)7
For the middle row, first join two
sets HSTs together, press then
attach to either side of the centre
block. (See Pic C.)8
You will need to make 16 blocks.
For each block, use a different
main print F8th.QUILT TOP ASSEMBLY

Using the main photo, join
together your blocks, sashing
and 2½" sashing squares to
complete your quilt top.10
Join in horizontal rows first. In
rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 join the blocks
and the sashing. In rows 2, 4 and 6CUTTING
From white fabric, cut:
24 9½x2½" strips for block sashing
96 3½" squares for HSTs
From main prints, cut:
5"-square block centre for each
main print
6 3½" squares for HSTs for each
main print
