Q

If you could ask your
favourite artist/band one
question, what would it be?

A

I would ask George to release a
CD/DVD anthology of his solo
work and to perhaps revisit some of
this work during a solo tour.

AND FINALLY.

Q

When did you fi rst become a Superfan
of your favourite artist and why do
you like them?

A

I was fi rst introduced to Culture Club via their
appearance on US TV show Solid Gold in late
1982/early 1983. They were performing Do You
Really Want To Hurt Me and almost immediately
I was transfi xed by George and the song.
I remember that I was watching the show at my
grandmother’s house and upon seeing Boy George,
she quickly turned the television off. I think I saw half
of the performance and from that moment on (I was
nine), I’ve been intrigued...

Q

What do you have in
your collection?

A

My collection is quite large and
features multiple versions of Culture
Club and Boy George releases from all
around the world (Japan, Mexico, South
Africa, US, UK, Australia etc). I also have
15 drawers full of magazines, clippings,
posters, T-shirts, badges and more. I have
almost every album and single release on
vinyl and CD but there are still a few items
that I’m on the hunt for.

Q

How much have you spent on
your collection?

A

I have easily spent over AUD$50,000 on building
my collection over 35 years.

Q

What’s your favourite item
in your collection?

A

My favourite items are the US long box CD
edition of The Martyr Mantras and Sold. I also
treasure the picture disc of The War Song, which is
still very hard to come by.

Q

Have you ever met your
favourite artist?

A

I‘ve met George a handful of times over the
years, either as part of a planned meet-and-
greet or after a concert. I fi rst met him when he
was DJing at Smirk, a club that he was running
in Piccadilly Circus in the mid-90s. It was only
recently that I met Roy, Mikey and Jon during one
of their recent Australian tours. Mikey, especially,
was lovely.

Q

Is there one Holy Grail item you’d
like to track down?

A

I would love to fi nd the Japanese 12" promo of
Karma Chameleon, which has a striking red cover

  • it’s very rare and very expensive. I would also like
to fi nd George’s solo track Whether They Like It Or
Not on CD, which was only released in France.
