Stuart Broad is just one wicket
away from becoming the seventh
man in history to reach 500 Test
dismissals after putting England in
a dominant position in the third
Test at Old Trafford.
Broad, 34, took six wickets
across two West Indies innings
yesterday to take his career total
to 499. England opener Rory
Burns said: “It is a pretty
ridiculous achievement to get that
many wickets — and he’s chipped
in with some very handy runs this
match as well.”
After taking the four remaining
wickets in West Indies’ first
innings in the morning, Broad
returned in the evening to add two
more in a devastating burst.
In between, England had
declared with a lead of 398,
