There will be rain over the Tennessee
and Ohio valleys, with spotty thunder-
storms in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Dela-
ware, Virginia and North Carolina as well
as in parts of Louisiana and central Texas.
Some of the rain may be heavy enough to
cause urban and small-stream flooding.
Farther north, high pressure will bring
dry air in New England and much of the
Great Lakes, with some sunshine. The dry
air will extend into parts of the central and
southern Plains.
Hurricane Isaias will travel north in the

warm waters between Florida and the
Bahamas this weekend. Torrential rain and
damaging winds will spread north in the
eastern part of the Florida Peninsula, as
well as the Bahamas. The worst conditions
will likely be over the northwestern Baha-
mas.
Farther west, showers and heavier
thunderstorms are in store from Lake
Superior to Nebraska. These storms will
bring cooler air. The Rockies to the Pacific
Coast will be dry and sunny, with high heat
during the afternoon over the interior.

There will be storms along the Rockies
and deserts late, as cool air moves into
the coastal Northwest.

FOCUS: ISAIAS IMPACTS FOR THE NORTH-
EAST Isaias will accelerate north and
northeast early next week. The storm will
be close enough to the coast to bring
heavy rainfall to the Interstate 95 corridor
from Washington D.C. to Boston, along
with tropical-storm-force winds for the
immediate coast.
