notinforestsinthemodern
sense,butstandproudinwood
pasture,a traditionallandscape
wherelivestockgrazedfreely
amongpollardedtrees.Inthis
parkland-stylesetting,theyserve
asvaluablesteppingstonesfor
wildlife.Thelargestmayproduce
over100,000acorns.If youfind
