It is prettywellestablishedthat
thehousemouse– oneofthemost
successfulinvasivespeciesonthe
planet– originatedinsouthernAsia
whenhumansstartedadopting
sedentaryagriculturalcultures
reliantonthestorageofgrains.The
suspicionhaslongbeenthatthe
domesticationoftheAfricanwild
catwasdrivenbyhumans’needto
protecttheirpreciouslardersfrom
therapaciousrodents.
Aninternationalteamof
scientistshasnowusedgeneticand
archaeological evidence to provide
somefirmevidenceforthattheory.
