sneakedintothecountrywhilewewere
lookingtheotherway.Butoften,nothing
couldbefurtherfromthetruth.Notonly
haveweheldthedooropenforthem,we’ve
thrownthema lavishwelcomeparty.
Plantsinparticularwereoftenbrought
inasexoticcuriositiesbythoseloversofthe
strange– theVictorians.Manystillbrighten
ourgardensquitehappily,butsomehave
takentotheirnewhomerathertoowell.
Don’tbefooledbytheseprettyflowers.In
theirownland,wheretheyevolved,natural
enemieskeeptheirnumbersincheck.But
intheUK,theyhavenosuchadversaries.
