Introduced to the UK from the Mediterranean (on more
than one occasion), fallow deer were historically kept
in the deer parks of Britain’s gentry. Eventually, they
escaped such confines and grew in number. You may
spot them in broadleaf or coniferous woodland as
well as on open agricultural land. Now numerous and
widespread across England and Wales, they certainly
