mostofeachweekendtrawlingbathroom

showrooms,choosingnewitemsof

furnitureandorderinglightfittings.For

Jo,thiswasthebestpartandallowedherto

expresshercreativeside.‘Forthekitchen,

wedecidedona slightlyindustriallook,

hencethecast-ironradiatorsandexposed

brickwall, and we paired these with

luxuriouselementsliketheagedbrasstaps

andmarbleworktops,’shesays.‘It’san

unusualmarriage,butonethatworks.’

Forthesittingroom,Josaysshewent

fora morecheerfullook,withitemsthat

havesentimentalvalue,suchastheartwork

abovethefireplace,whichthecouple

boughtinBali.‘Here,asinalltherooms,

I’vegoneforplainwhitewalls,which

createsa cleanlookwhileaccentuating

thecoloursofthefurniture,fabricsand

accessories,’shesays.‘AndthecolourI’ve

foundmyselfusinga lotofis blue.’

Twoyearsonfromtherenovation,

Josaysthelayoutanddecorsuitthefamily

perfectly.‘Wewoulddothesameagain–

it wasa surprisinglypain-freeprocessand

allthechoiceswemadehaveendured,’she

says.‘Andconsideringwedidn’tobsess

aboutstylethemesorcolourco-ordination,

it all hangs together really well.’
