YES, I CAN SAY THAT: WHEN THEY COME FOR THE COMEDI-
ANS, WE ARE ALL IN TROUBLE, by Judy Gold, read by
the author. (HarperAudio.) The veteran hu-
morist defends comedy and its creators, from
Samantha Bee to Nimesh Patel to Michelle
Wolf, against all who would censor them.

MEMOIRS AND MISINFORMATION, by Jim Carrey and
Dana Vachon, read by Jeff Daniels. (Random
House Audio.) This semiautobiographical
novel — starring Carrey and Nic Cage in a
story about everything wrong with Hollywood
— is read by his “Dumb & Dumber” co-star.

CHILDHOOD INTERRUPTED: RAISING KIDS DURING A PAN-
DEMIC, by Sanjay Gupta, read by the author.
(Audible.) The neurosurgeon, CNN medical
correspondent and father of three shares the
trials (and rewards) of raising adolescents in
2020.

THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, by Joan Didion,
read by Vanessa Redgrave. (Audible.) The ac-
tor performs a one-woman theater adaptation
of Didion’s National Book Award-winning
2005 memoir of losing and grieving her hus-
band, John Gregory Dunne.

IS RAPE A CRIME? A MEMOIR, AN INVESTIGATION, AND A MAN-
IFESTO, by Michelle Bowdler, read by Gabra Za-
ckman. (Macmillan Audio.) In her first book,
the public health expert and social justice ad-
vocate reviews how American society has
viewed, responded to and prosecuted sexual
violence in the last several decades.

For reporters in Washington, the last three
years have presented many plot twists. One of
the twistiest has been President Trump’s trade
war with China, in which our real estate devel-
oper in chief wielded brash negotiating tactics
to shake down the world’s second-largest econ-
omy as he would any New York-area carpet
subcontractor. SUPERPOWER SHOWDOWN: HOW THE BATTLE BETWEEN TRUMP
AND XI THREATENS A NEW COLD WARdetails a multiyear fight in which both
countries came out bruised. Trump, a self-proclaimed “Tariff
Man,” lurches from escalation to détente and back. The Chinese
plot their own return to greatness while steadily approving trade-
marks for Ivanka Trump-branded day care centers as a gesture of
good will. The book, by the formidable Wall Street Journal report-
ers Bob Davis and Lingling Wei, shows how fragile the truce be-
tween the countries is, and how close they are to a more devastat-
ing conflict. Its keen reporting suggests their destinies are more
shared than either would like to admit.
