planningrestrictions,virtuallyeveryotheraspect


ofthevillawaschanged.‘I wantedtogiveit more


ofa contextualconnectiontoitsItalianlakeside


surroundings,’ says Hanne. Windows were enlarged


andwallsreplacedwithhugefoldingglassdoors
toenhancetheviewsandopenupthegroundfloor.
‘InfluencedbyhousesinAustraliaandBali,wewanted
a homewherethetransitionbetweenindoorsand
outdoorswasseamless,’saysMo.Travertinestoneslabs
wereusedinboththeinteriorandonthepatiotohelp
achievethis.‘Thestoneis consistentthroughout,the
onlydifferencebeingthatinsidethehouse,it is sealedto
preventstaining,’Moexplains.A free-flowingfloorplan
downstairswasattainedbyopeningupwallsand
enhancedwiththeuseofspace-savingpocketdoors.
