architectureina sortofnationwide
promotionalextravaganzanotseen
sincePrinceAlbert’sGreatexhibition,
exactlya centurybefore.
Themainfestivalsitewaslocated
alongthesouthbankoftheThames
wherebombsiteswereclearedaround
theRoyalFestivalHall,thenewcentre
forthecity’sculturallifeandtheonly
permanentstructuretoremainafterthe
festival.TheDomeofDiscoverywas
