ABOVEWe love
the slightly
mutated wildlife
roaming around.
This is exactly
what we want
fromFar Cry!

layers ofThe Division 2’s
closed Alpha on PC in
December signed strict
NDAs before they were
allowed to play. Of
course, within hours there were
detailed accounts online revealing
every inch of the game. Honestly, it’s
like they forgot the internet existed.
It’s worth remembering that this is
an alpha, so things will undoubtedly
change before the final release as
Massive tweaks systems and balances
things out. Still, it gives us a slightly
better picture of howThe Division 2will
work at a gameplay level. For a start,
players reported that enemies feel
less like bullet-sponges, and many
guns feel more powerful. If that means
random grunts die without us having
to put a dozen sniper shots directly
into their faces, that’s fine by us.
It’s all coming together nicely, and if
the development team have listened
to the fans then this could bethe
shooter of the summer.Q

MAYBE NUCLEAR WAR ISN’T SO BAD AFTER ALL

Far Cry

P

f you’ve been looking
forward to stepping
back into a slightly
radioactive Hope
County, you don’t have
long to wait. This spin-off/sequel, set
17 years afterFar Cry 5, is doing
something similar toFar Cry Primal,
using the same map as a main
release but changing up
the game with new
weapons, gameplay
and characters.
There are some big
changes here, too. The
map will be familiar, but
different, with chunks of it
completely destroyed by a
nuclear blast, and other
areas open to explore. As

I

you might expect after such an event,
everything is very much makeshift,
from the buildings to the weapons and
items. You’ll experience bizarre
locations and even weirder weapons,
like the saw launcher – which
launches saws. Obviously.
Companions make a return, too.
There’s Nick Rye’s kick-ass daughter,
Carmina, Nana the narcoleptic
pensioner with a penchant for sniping,
and Timber the timber wolf. D’aww!
Far Cry 5 was good fun, but we’re
hoping this spin-off turns the dial
all the way round to ‘ridiculous’.
There’s plenty of
scope for
weirdness here,
and we are
so ready. Q

LEFT If we don’t
get to ascend the
Washington
Monument or
wander through
the White House,
we’re going to
kick off.
