Dark Mode was introduced to the
Mac with macOS: Mojave, and a
year later, it comes to the iPhone with iOS
- Switching to Dark Mode changes the
appearance of the screen, for example,
using white text on a black background.
2
The Dark Mode feature is available
system-wide across your iPhone, so
Apple’s own apps also benefit from it. More
and more third-party developers are
making their apps Dark Mode compatible
too, so if you prefer a darker screen, it’s
fantastic news.
System-wide Dark Mode
This was also included in the iOS 12.4
update. When setting up a new iPhone,
instead of having to back up your old
phone to iCloud and update the new
one from the backup, you can wirelessly
transfer data between phones.

Mapping mayhem
1
Maps has gained a trio of new
features, including a 3D street view.
To access it, tap Look Around, or the
Binoculars icon. It’s currently only
available in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and
Honolulu, but it will surely roll out
elsewhere soon.
3
Zoom in on a map and then push
up with two fingers to access the 3D
version. It’s much more detailed, with
buildings and features drawn on with great
accuracy. It’s not available everywhere,
but will roll out in more places soon.
2
Locations you’ve defined as your
Favourites are much easier to
access now too, and appear at the top of
searches. You can create lists of
Favourites and share them with friends.
Just open a Favourite and tap Add to...,
then add it to a collection.
