1980 novel Waiting for the Barbarians. - Coetzee originally borrowed that title from
a poem written by the Greek poet C. P. Cavafy. - Joe Alwyn took the role of the Lieutenant
before departing the project, leaving Sam
Reid to play that part in the finished film. - Principal photography of this film occurred
in Morocco and Italy during November and
December 2018. - This movie is director Ciro Guerra’s first in
the English language.
