WEB DESIGN NEXUS
A bold, engaging and informative web design conference

This website is primarily aimed at capturing
the attention of a younger generation of
designers and encouraging them to go to a design
conference – perhaps even for the first time. To
appeal to this audience, I have used a bold,
striking typeface, which is highlighted even
further by the use of high-contrast colours in
order to stand out and grab the user’s attention
as soon as the page loads. While I have kept it
simple, the above the fold section has enough
information about the web conference to keep
the user informed and encourage them to
register their interest in attending or to find out
more about it. The photograph in the background
conveys the message that the conference is
interesting, with all the audience focused on the
talk at hand. I have added a linear burn gradient
of the bright, contrasted colours over this image
to make it pop and help bring a sense of unity to
the whole layout.

CLOSE UP

(1) I have used a hamburger menu button, which
brings out a bright sidebar navigation when hovered on
desktop or pressed on mobile. This keeps the screen
looking less cluttered and more appealing. (2) There is a
bright and noticeable CTA button, which transports the
user to the registration form. The ease of access to this
button should lead to a higher conversion rate. (3) This
scroll button bounces up and down to draw the user’s
attention. It will keep them engaged and indicate for
them to scroll down and read more, leading to a longer
page retention of interested users. (4) Social media
buttons have been added to help users keep informed
of the event and have them engage with it before it
happens. The leading line beside these buttons will draw
the user’s eye to them. (5) The text is designed to be
responsive, so that it breaks after each forward slash on
mobile. This unifies the experience across all devices.
