SERIES EIGHT

serieseight.com

Ever thought about getting into
cannabis? With a growing – and, in
some countries, legal – market for it,
cannabis startups are just as in need of a
solid web presence as other companies,
which is something that Series Eight
(serieseight.com) has turned into a
budding business over the past few years.
Set up five years ago, it has grown into an
11-strong team that’s relinquished its
East London studio and now works
entirely remotely, with its staff scattered
across Europe. We spoke to co-founders
Mario and Francesca Vassiliades and
front-end developer John Healey about
the challenges of remote working, took a
look through Series Eight’s portfolio
andfound out about the opportunities the
cannabis industry presents to developers.

How did Series Eight come together?
MV: The idea of Series Eight began long
before I left agency life in pursuit of
opening my own agency. In high school,
I managed to get commissioned for
graphic design projects and I continued
to freelance throughout university in
London. After working at several
agencies in the city that claimed to offer
‘everything’, myself and my (now) wife
wanted to create a boutique design
studio with a small, specialised team
that just focused on high-end UX/UI,
creative front-end development and
offering a super personalised customer
service. Also, that meant we never had to
use WordPress again!
