The Mallard & Claret team explain how they helped bring London


Vauxhall’s unique brand to life with a new placemaking website

HOW WE BUILT

(1) Communicating that Vauxhall is the
“destination for different” was a core part of
the design brief. This was achieved through
the juxtaposition of illustrative etchings and
bold coloured typography. (2) When the site
first loads, elements appear on the page in a
specific sequence to focus the user and draw
their eye to the page title, which loads in last.
(3) As users scroll through the site, subtle
parallax effects move objects at different
speeds to one another, further accentuating

Vauxhall’s quirky personality. (4) A fully
responsive interactive map enables users
on desktop and mobile to explore Vauxhall
and interact with local businesses. (5) Also
a virtual timeline tells the story of Vauxhall
from past to present, showcasing some of
the area’s most interesting characters and
places from over the years. (6) A ‘What’s On’
mega menu animates on hover for users
to quickly and easily navigate to the latest
events, exhibitions, activities and nightlife.

BRIEF
In partnership with Vauxhall’s branding agency,
Mallard & Claret was appointed to build a
new website to showcase Vauxhall’s unique
personality, encouraging more visitors to the
area and helping local businesses to grow.
