26525351c51d51a51b4950Step 47.It should look like this with all three pieces of the sketchin place.Step 48.With a pencil, start retracing your sketch onto thefondant as shown.TIP: You have to bridge the gap between tiers. Thetemplate allows for this. As it is a round cake, havinga continuous drawing draped over the cake is verydifficult.Step 49.You will see a faint impression on the fondant as aguide for your painting.TIP: Too much pressure and you might damage thesugarpaste. Too little and you will not transfer yourdrawing onto the sugarpaste. You can use pencil on theback of the sketch but you have to make sure it does notcontain lead. Alternatively, you can trace the sketch onthe back using an edible pen and then retrace it ontothe sugarpaste if you do not mind the black faint lines. You can also use a scribe and trace your main drawing.Step 50.Mix some vodka with Olive colour. It is a watercolourpainting, so for the best results, make several shades ofgreen by mixing different quantities of vodka and thepaste colour.Steps 51a & b.Your first green layer has to be the very lightest possibleusing the no. 12 brush. Leave to dry before applying asecond layer of mix.Instead of long strokes, smudge a darker mix of greenaround the edges of your painted leaves, thus givingsome depth. Leave again to dry before applying morecolour.Steps 51c & d.Maintaining the smudging rather than strokingapproach, add another darker layer around the edges.Use a fine brush and darker green mix to start paintingaround the edges and some details. Do not worry if youget out of line. It is more of a sketch colour paintingrather than a perfectly defined outline.Step 52.Mix vodka and Pink gel colour and repeat Steps 51a-dfor a couple of the flowers.Step 53.Repeat Step 51 with Poppy and Purple gel colours topaint a couple of the flowers of each.47 48
