With the May bag, whichhad a gold and glam theme, we made somecupcakes. With the June bag, which had abeach theme, we decorated a cake board inthe same way you could decorate a cake.``````Firstly, we were impressed with the value ofthe contents compared to the cost of the bag. Both of the bags included a variety of highquality products that could be used to createcakes with the bag’s theme in mind, or usedas tools to decorate cakes in multiple styles.Inside each bag is a little booklet explainingwhat each item is and giving inspiration ofwhat to create. Extra treats in the May bagwere a fridge magnet and a lollipop, andperfect for Summer, the June bag included astick of rock.``````For the gold and glam themed bag, we made aset of four cupcakes decorated in an art deco, jewelled style. After covering our cupcakesin dark grey sugarpaste, we started with thespecially designed stencil from Truly MadlySweetly Cupcakes. We applied some dust overthe stencil to create the effect of the Gatsbyinspired border on the cupcake.``````Next, we created some gems with the WiltonJewellery Mould and some white gum paste.A quick dust of the mould with cornflour andit was easy to fill the mould with paste, pinchaway the excess, and then turn it over for thegems to pop out. Each jewel was painted withgold edible paint and left to dry.``````Patchwork Cutters’ Picot Dots Cutter was agreat addition to this bag. Again, we paintedthe cut out pieces with edible gold paint tocreate cupcake decorations. But all of theseitems would be useful for different styles ofcake – the Jewellery Mould will provide aquick and easy way to create decorations forlots of cakes and can be coloured any way youlike. The Picot Dots can be used to create atraditional look or even as an impression tool.Finishing touches were added to our cupcakeswith the edible House of Cake Gold DiamondStuds – so glamorous!``````Getting set for Summer with the June CakeBag, we loved the ‘Meet Me At The Beach’theme. As this month’s bag was in associationwith Blue Door Bakery, a full tutorial was alsoincluded. This handy guide took us throughthe steps of how to create the striped deck``````chair topper using the JEM Deck Chair Cutter, the polka dot beach towel using PME’s RoundPlunger Cutter and a wave border usingFMM’s Frill Cutter Set – all of which wereincluded in the bag. Also inside was RenshawFlower and Modelling Paste, Squires HighStrength Professional Paste Food Colours andsome striped ribbon. We deviated from thetutorial slightly, using the FMM Frill Cuttersto create layers of paste in different shadesof blue for the appearance of the sea’s wavesarriving on the shoreline.``````We had lots of fun playing around with theproducts in both of these Cake Bags andwould definitely appreciate such a deliveryevery month.
