For more informationabout Claire and her cakes, visit: Clairellacakes.com- Always check the flow ofcolour from your airbrush ontokitchen paper first. To do this, fill the airbrush cap with colour, turn on the compressor andchoose the desired mode. Sprayonto kitchen paper to see ifthe colour is spraying evenly orspitting. If spitting, your airbrushmay be blocked so thoroughcleaning is recommended.Diluting colours with a spirit willalso help achieve an even flowof colour.- Remember to clean yourairbrush thoroughly after everyuse.- Always clean immediatelyafter using metallic or mattecolours.- Add colour gently andgradually, as building up slowlywill help achieve the best resultsand quicker drying times.- How fast your colour dries willdepend on the make of airbrushcolour, the consistency andhow gently you are adding thecolour. If you are too close orheavy handed with the triggeretc, this can cause pools ofcolour and make your pieceappear shiny. A slow build-up ofcolour is always recommended.- Don’t give up – everythingtakes practice to build up yourtechnique and confidence.Airbrushing can take your cakedecoration up another level.Top Tips! Not all airbrushes have different modes, but they can be a great helpwith your control of your colour flow and therefore confidence.``````Modes control the flow of air from the compressor. Maximum modewould be used for full colour blocking on a cake for larger areas. The lowest modes would be for gentle shading or flower work forexample. Modes are particularly useful if you find that you tend tobe heavy handed and over spray, but please remember not to everpull the trigger all the way back, halfway should work perfectly.``````Please see the picture illustrating the different modes when pullingthe trigger to exactly the same position. From the top down ismaximum to minimum mode. Note that the distance from theairbrush to the piece will also effect the colour coverage. The closeryou are, the finer the line will be.Mode GuideRainbow Dust Colours’ Colour Flo range can be used forairbrushing but also to colour royal icing and cake batter. They are available in all good cake decorating stores.
