Brian says, “I live in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. Bow Lake is a small glacial lake
found along the Icefields Parkway (Hwy
93) in Banff National Park and it’s at an
altitude of 1920m. Bow Lake is a 2.5 hour
drive from where I live, so I had to leave at
about 5am to be able to drive there and set
up for an 8am sunrise in October.”

Marco’s shot of popular Lago Di Braies
has some fantastic depth. He’s placed the
steps and walkway centrally in the bottom
third of the frame to guide the eye towards
the middle of the shot, acting as lead-in
lines. Then there’s the mountains in the
middle of the frame and dramatic clouds
looming over the top portion.

“To take this image I was in a hide
crouched down level with the ground,” says
Dave, “so I could get the right angle to use
the water reflection like a mirror and create
a double image of the squirrel.”
