Story telling and aesthetics
have always played a key role
in my art and whether I’m
working on a new collection,

a commission, or shooting
commercially, I try to remain
true to my own voice and
craftsmanship.
When I was 16, my parents
ERXJKWPHP\ÀUVW&DQRQ
DSLR, and I remember taking
it everywhere with me,
shooting the mundane and
everyday objects; small details
in a smile and facial
expressions. Throughout the
years I have experimented
with different equipment and

girl through and through. It’s
the piece of kit that feels like
an extension of my body.

As a self portrait artist I
haven’t been short of subject
matter during lockdown.
Using myself within my work
has always been more about
the process and physically, the
emotional toll instead of just a
picture of ‘me.’ During this
time in isolation, I’ve found
my photo process coming full
circle back to painting and
sculpture, but this time
combining all the crafts
together, in a way I hadn’t
thought about before. It’s
interesting how these strange
situations can give you a new
outlook and fresh inspiration.

Claire Luxton

I’M A UK based multidisciplinary
artist working with photography,
painting, poetry and installation.
After receiving an BFA from
Goldsmiths, University of London,
I created a challenging series of
self-portraits, pushing emotional
and physical boundaries by
becoming both the subject
matter and the materiality,
exploring themes of femininity,
isolation and anxiety. My work has
been shown around the globe
(London, Miami and Singapore)
and I’ve been lucky to work with
brands like Adobe.

WHAT DO I DO?
