Digital Photographer - UK (2020-06)

get the usual feel I’m after for one image. Yes, I
do use my own specially designed Lightroom
preset to edit (which is available to download
for free and begin using on both Lightroom
mobile and desktop).

Where do you find the right props and
locations for your shoots?
I’ve become sort of an antique and vintage
collector, which helps when it comes to
accessing props and coming up with ideas.
For the most part, I tend to stumble upon
potential locations during my walks. I enjoy
walking. I usually make a note of the location
on my phone and then plan an outfit that best
complements it. Sometimes I take my props
along with me to add to the scene.
Google is something I also take advantage
of, helping me to look out for museums,
galleries and landmarks that will best
compliment my aesthetics.

How important has social media been for
you to grow as a photographer?
Social media I’d say has been important for
me in terms of connecting with other creatives,
as well as showcasing my work. It’s something
I’m quite grateful for.

Is vlogging something that came naturally
to you, or did it require a lot of practice?
I’d say that when I first started vlogging, I
struggled with it but still managed to keep up
with it at my own pace. I think the struggle
was more about speaking to a camera,
which didn’t provide instant feedback
when compared to having a face-to-face
conversation with reactions and feedback.
However, the more I did it, the more I got
used to it. And now, it does feel like it comes
naturally to me.

It looks like you often shoot content for
partners, such as Visit London. How do
these collaborations come about, and do
brands always come to you?
I’ve been lucky to maximise social media by
getting paid work from it, most of which is
inbound collaborations. I’d say that at least
98 per cent of the time, the brands are the
ones approaching me – something else I’m
grateful for.

Your Instagram profile is described as “an
introspective lifestyle editorial.” What does
this mean to you?
I take a very introspective approach when
it comes to my lifestyle imagery. As much
as I acquire knowledge, I always try my best
to look inwards to see how else I can best
draw from it, hence the quotes that usually
accompany my posts. The images are
editorials to reel the audience in, while getting
them to ponder on my thoughts and how it
may or may not relate to some of theirs.
