The setup

The amount of light required for each
area of the scene may not be universal.
A professional secret is to light each
area separately and merge these
images in software. Here we’ve placed
a strip of masking tape across the
window to add an attractive shadow to
the curtain and wall, and shot images
for the correct exposure, contrast
and light direction for each area,
including the outside scene beyond
the side window. Since the camera is
tripod-mounted, each frame can be
seamlessly blended with ease.
