In Big Sur, the way in which you customize the widgets displayed in your Notification
Center is much the same as the present macOS, but with a couple of key differences.

Click to edit
When you Notification Center is
displayed, you will see the “Edit Widgets”
option at the bottom of the column. Click
this and the feature will be expanded to
cover most of the screen.

Select a size
Use the left sidebar to jump
straight to a widget category and then
you will be able to choose from three
different widget sizes: Small, Medium,
and Large.

Drag and drop
When you are happy with your
selection, you will then be able to simply
drag and drop the widget straight into
your preferred place within your
Notification Center.

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR WIDGETS

There is no better example of Apple’s mission objective of bringing macOS and
iOS closer together in a more unified ecosystem than the Big Sur Messages app.

Express yourself better in Messages

> SEND GIFS
Tapping on the “#images”
option from the menu will
bring up a window of
animated GIFs to share
through Messages, just
like on your iOS device.

E
> MESSAGE
EFFECTS
When you have typed your
message, before sending it
you can access “Message
Effects” to apply animated
effects to your texts,
including Balloons, Lasers,
Confetti, and more...

> POWERFUL
SEARCH
Big Sur will have enhanced
search capabilities to help
you find anything in
Messages. Click on the field
and recent contacts, photos
and documents will be
placed within easy reach.

> PHOTO–PICKER
PERFECTION
Click on the “A” icon to the
left of the text field and a
menu of iOS–alike Message
options will appear. Tapping
“Photos” brings up an
enhanced photo–picker to
help find an image or video.

> NEW MEMOJIS
You can now create and edit your own
personal Memoji right on your Mac and
send stickers in the Messages app to
better express how you’re feeling.
