options. Touch works very well,
but selecting and dragging
content with a mouse, and
using keyboard shortcuts to
edit content, is just faster.
Behind the scenes, Noto
syncs using CloudKit, which
means your projects are quickly
synced and available to your
other devices running the app,
including your Mac. Exporting

tools, math, code, and quotes.
For each of these you get
various options and presets to
customize the content. Videos
can be imported too.
Once created or imported,
Noto treats content like blocks,
and these can be moved around
by pressing and dragging. The
second technique for importing
is to call up an app in split view
and drag something in. This
works with content from
Notes, Photos, Files, web
browsers and more, with Noto
correctly copying formatting,
hyperlinks, and more.
You’ll get a little more out
of the iPad than the iPhone
version, since iPadOS supports
multiple selection and dragging
of more than one item at once.
Noto also supports Bluetooth
mouse, trackpad and cursor on
iPad, as well as keyboard input,
and these are a game–changer
when it comes to productivity.
This is the kind of app that
beneĽts from expanded input

notes, which is one of the pro
features, gives you some great
options. You can export as raw
Noto project, HTML, PDF,
markdown, or a JPEG to a local
or cloud–based destination.
As a tool to create reminders,
lists, presentations, or just
collect and organize your
information in a way that’s
powerful but friendly, Noto is
excellent. It handled pretty
much everything we asked of
it, got the formatting right,
and provided essential tools
for annotating, editing, and
generally working with
multiple types of media.
THE BOTTOM LINE. Noto
isn’t a bridge between Notes
and Pages but a unique and
powerful app in its own right.
It makes it easy to create rich
canvases with text, images,
and more. HOLLIN JONES
