The Calm Sea

Sue loves being out in the fresh air
and capturing the sea in all its
forms, and as she lives on the
south coast she has endless
opportunities to do just that. ‘This
particular image was taken at
Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport in
Hampshire close to home, where I
can see changing weather
conditions approaching. I wanted to
create a tranquil scene of the sea
whilst still capturing the fast-moving
clouds. The conditions were ideal
for a long exposure.’

‘Photography is my passion. I carry
my camera with me every day
hoping to shoot something
interesting. I am always on the hunt
for things from a different angle.
Walking around the garden I saw
this gosling with its parents. They
only had one little gosling who was
running around and it was so much
fun to watch him. I was a few yards
away so I lay down on the grown
and followed the little fella until I
got this shot – I was so happy!’

structural appearance. The image was
taken in my porch using just natural
light and a white backdrop. It is part of
a set of Avedon-inspired portraits that I
created recently and is a photograph
of a close friend.’ Chosen by Andy
