Brooklyn Tweed has launched a brand-new
yarn, called Dapple. It’s a blend of merino
wool and organic cotton that has been
sourced, spun and dyed in the USA, and is
a soft, warming woollen-spun DK-weight.
The nature of the spinning and dyeing
processes used results in a subtly dappled,
tonal colour effect on each skein, and the
palette has 10 sophisticated shades, including
a range of blues, a warm yellow, and vivid
reds and pink. It’s sold in 50g skeins, with
a meterage of 150m/165yds.
Jared Flood has designed two knitting
patterns to showcase the new yarn: a
seamless, top-down raglan pullover with
a touch of waist shaping and the choice of
three different sleeve lengths; and ‘Urtia’,
a hat worked in half-brioche stitch.
A percentage of the profits from sales of
Dapple will be donated to the National Black
Farmers Association.
