o you’re ready to head out on your trip. You’ve got your camera, lenses,
a smartphone loaded with travel apps, Bluetooth headphones, and a

right? Not so fast, tech traveler. Believe it or not, there are still some places
that you can’t bring your gear to—because it’s against local laws, it’s not good
travel etiquette, or both.

Being a discerning tourist means knowing where you can bust out your gadgets
and when you should leave them in the suitcase. Here are six places where you
should go untethered. (Not mentioned are museums, because more and more of
them are adopting stricter restrictions on having phones and cameras inside—
be sure to check local regulations before going in.)
