My Songs (Deluxe)
Sting
The British singer-songwriter Sting
has released his 14th studio album, a
collection of reworked versions of many
of the former The Police frontman’s best-
known hits. Sting has said that all of the
new versions, including of “Message in a
Bottle”, “Englishman in New York” and “If I
Ever Lose My Faith in You”, have a renewed
contemporary focus.
FIVE FACTS:
- Although Sting’s real name is Gordon
Matthew Thomas Sumner, he told Time in
2011: “I was never called Gordon. You could
shout ‘Gordon’ in the street and I would just
move out of your way.” - Sting was born on October 2, 1951 in the
town of Wallsend, near Newcastle upon Tyne
in North East England. - From 1977 to 1984, Sting was the lead
vocalist of British rock band The Police. - While some of the renditions on My Songs
are largely remixes of the original tracks,
other songs have been entirely re-recorded
for this album. - In support of the album, Sting has
embarked on the My Songs tour, which
started in Paris, France on May 28.
