A TIME OF GREAT UNCERTAINTY FOR
U.S.- CHINA RELATIONS
If almost anything is certain about the state of
play between the U.S. and China and the likely
consequences of their unfolding ‘tech cold
war’, it is that it is immensely uncertain – and
seemingly fraught with almost unparalleled risk
for the various parties.
What is clear, though, is that in China, the U.S.
has a rival for global economic and technological
supremacy that it has not encountered for
generations. As a result, whatever happens, the
present conflict cannot simply be characterized
as ‘just another Cold War’.
