The white-tailed eagle is the largest bird of prey in the
UK. Its powerful, broad wings span about 2.5m and have
‘fingered’ tips. In flight, this skilled predator is perhaps
most impressive when seen swooping down to a body
of water, where it will fly just above the surface, before
momentarily hovering, snatching itself some takeaway
