GROUSE MOORS

“I welcomed the
opportunity to amend the
Scottish Government’s
Animals and Wildlife
(Penalties, Protections
and Powers) (Scotland)
Bill and was delighted
that my amendment to
make mountain hares a
protected species
secured the support of
the Scottish Parliament.
People in Scotland
demonstrated their
support for this
protection by writing in
huge numbers to their
MSPs asking them to vote
for this change. My focus
is to urge the Scottish
Government to bring this
protection into force as a
matter of urgency.”
