Absolutely
Apple
Measure your
bust, waist and
hips. If they are
close in size, it is
possible that you
fall into this
category. It is also
worth noting that
apple shapes carry
their weight around
the middle, whilst their lower bodies remain
slim by comparison.
As an apple shape, it is essential that you
select the right neckline for your igure. Ideally,
you want to be wearing styles that feature a
low V-neck, as this will highlight your bust and

create a vertical line. King
Cole’s fresh green cardigan
certainly ticks this box (right).
It is also a fantastic choice for
the warmer weather, as it is
knitted in the new Cotton Top
DK yarn. Designed with sunny
days in mind, this beautifully
lecked ibre is lightly
textured and available in a
range of pastel shades.
Additionally, you can latter
your igure by wearing loose
itting garments, such as
ponchos, capes or perhaps this
pretty shawl from Rowan (above). Suitable for
advanced knitters, this lightweight look won’t
cling to your body. Instead, it will help you to
create a chic layered efect. The Chifon pattern
is taken from a collection of seven lacy designs.

Perfectly
Pear
The first clue is if
your waist is wider
than your bust. Pear
shapes will also have
narrow shoulders
and comparatively
broader hips. The
lower half of your
body will be curvier
than the top.
If you are a pear shape, it is a good idea to
draw the eye towards your upper half using
attractive patterns and striking shades. Why not
do this with Rowan’s new colourful cardigan
(right)? Its geometric design is delightful and
the cropped style will elongate your legs.
You can ind even
more twists on classic
styles in Rowan’s
Modern Heritage
Magazine,
so don’t miss out!
Rico Design also has
a great garment for
balancing out your
body. We just love
this gentle yellow
top (above). Not only
is it cropped, it also
has a wide neckline
that will broaden
your shoulders.

Right for
Rectangles
Typically, the
measurements for
a rectangular
shaped body will
be similar from top
to bottom. An
undefined waist
and a smaller bust
are also common
characteristics. If
you are a rectangle, it is also likely that you
have lean arms and long legs.
The irst tip is to wear strong
blocks of colour, as this will add
deinition to your shape. Luckily,
spring and summer are the perfect
seasons for experimenting with
bold shades. Stylecraft clearly
agrees as it is releasing a vibrant
70s style collection in new yarn
Monet and fan favourite Jeanie.
We adore the beautiful blue of
this textured sweater (bottom).
Three-quarter length sleeves and
a medium to high neckline will
also look fantastic on your igure,
so why not try King Cole’s
lightweight jumper? If you are
relatively tall, you will certainly be
able to pull of the longer length.

House of Colour specialises in colour and
style analysis. Its talented image consultants
are expertly trained in finding the ideal
shades for every complexion. Below are four
top tips from HELEN VENABLES, the
company’s Managing Director.

1

You need to remember that wearing the right
colours can impact your well-being; making
you feel positive and full of vitality. In contrast,
the wrong shades can drain you and negatively
alter your mood.

2

Styling is also a key part of the process.
Never dress sloppily, even when you are
dressing casually. Avoid creased clothes,
missing buttons, faded colours, completely
monochrome outits, bobbles on wool and
clothes that it poorly! Instead, choose

garments that scream quality and express
your personality.

3

Don’t turn yourself into a walking rainbow,
but try mixing up to three shades in your
complementary colour palette - including the
neutrals that suit your complexion.

4

If you are unsure about wearing a bold
outit, but still want to include your wow
colours, you can always choose chic
accessories in gorgeous shades.
