OUR MONTHLY ROUND-UP OF HOW YOU CAN

USE YOUR NEEDLES FOR A GOOD CAUSE

The Tempestry Project combines ibre art with
temperature data to raise awareness for
climate change. The project creates
accurate annual temperature records of
personally important years, such as
birth years, to scale down global
climate conversations into accessible
stories. Tempestries provide a
powerful visualization of data that can
sometimes be overwhelming. Based
in the USA, the team also produces
international kits and are happy to
hear from anyone interested in knitting
a UK Tempestry Collection. To learn more
or to purchase one of their Tempestry kits,
visit tempestryproject.com

“I support several
Dalmatian charities
both here and in
Spain. I knit keyrings
to raise much needed
funds and they seem
to sell well. I have
knitted hundreds over
the years”
Sue Lee
That’s so impressive,
Sue, well done!

LUCAS

THE LION
Established by Isobel Pitcher, Out With
Animals is an innovative charity-based
scheme. Isobel knits colourful animals and
distributes them to volunteers around the
world. The animals are photographed in
exciting places, before they are sent back
to Out With Animals HQ. Once her knits
have been returned, Isobel writes fun
stories about their various adventures.
Finally, the animals and their stories are
sent to sick children in the UK (via Post
Pals), child survivors of tropical storms (via
Help for Dominica) or an orphanage in
Nepal (via Keta Keri Avenir). To learn more

TALES OF YOUR FANTASTIC
CHARITY EFFORTS!

“Made these for for
Ben Beanies to help
the homeless. We
wanted to knit/
crochet 100 hats in
a couple of months
but as a team we
did about 1100 hats and various other bits!”
Mandie Cockram
Wow, that’s incredible, Mandie!
