More and more photographers are getting creative.

Ripe Photography looks at why insurance is

essential in these challenging times

T

here have been some
truly incredible
examples of ingenuity
and improvisation

demonstrated by photographers

during lockdown.

Although we’ve been indoors

for much of this period, it’s

certainly opened doors for

photographers of all

backgrounds. Whether you’re

an experienced photographer,

or have just taken it up as a

hobby, with the world being

‘put on hold’ there have never

been more opportunities for
you to get creative.
That said, with an increasing
number of opportunities comes
an increased risk of something
going wrong. For instance, your
equipment being stolen or
sustaining damage.
However, you can still hone
your skills without worrying
about these outcomes. Ripe
Photography, a specialist
photography insurance
provider, looks at this
unprecedented period and why

You may have started to
experiment more with indoor
photography, becoming
accustomed to the intriguing
spaces in your home and the
more technical features of your
camera. You may even have a
studio set up in your home,
explored using your camera for
video, or perhaps you’ve been
indulging in a spot of macro
photography – a rising trend.
Whatever kind of photograph
you take, you’re far more likely
to be using your camera during
lockdown. But, as with any
hobby which involves using
expensive equipment, you need
to err on the side of caution.

It’s important to protect
your memories, as well as
your kit
If you’re like us, having more
quality time to take photos has
been great, but the more often

insurance is essential to help
you to adjust.

What is the ‘new normal’?
The past few months have
marked a unique period in
history, the like of which we’ve
never seen. Fewer people have
been going out, and public
spaces such as shops, parks, bars
and restaurants have either
been totally deserted or bound
by social distancing rules.
The natural order of things
has been turned on its head,
but this doesn’t have to be a
bad thing. In fact, it’s good
news if you’re a photographer
with an eye for the weird and
wonderful.
Creativity has become the
name of the game as
photographers capture their
unique experiences during this
pandemic. We’ve seen the
surreal and eerie pictures of
empty city centre street corners,
socially distanced queues
outside cafes, people wearing
masks whilst doing their
errands and much more. When
you venture outside, you simply
don’t know what you’ll fi nd.
Of course, it’s not just outside
where you’re likely to fi nd
inspiration. After all, we’ve been
spending more time at home

In case your kit gets damaged or stolen, insurance is a no-brainer than ever before.
