My favourite colour of the
moment has to be the
Pantone Colour of the Year
for 2019, ‘Living Coral’. Littl di I n h I
started creating Scheepjes
YARN 7 bookazine that the
stars would align to bring
the colour of the year and
our theme ‘reef’ together.
It’s like it was meant to be!

What’s your favourite on-trend colour?

I love the deep forest greens that
are everywhere right now. It speaks
of nature without being too glaring,
and it’s an easy colourtoaddtothe
rest of my ‘me-made’ wardrobe.
It also happens to be the
perfect shade to use as a gift
for my friends, no matter what
the gender! The picture is of
Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran
Racing Green.

Just some of
the delightful
knits donated

N

eedles and Hooks Angels and
Preemies (NHAP) is a group
of enthusiastic knitters and
crafters on a mission to do as much as
they can to help parents and families
during dicult times. They donate
knitted items to children’s hospices,
the homeless, both adults and children
who have been diagnosed with cancer
and those with dementia. They even knit
trauma teddies used by the police and
other emergency services to soothe
children during a crisis. In addition to
knitting, NHAP also transform used
wedding dresses into burial gowns for
angel babies, born still sleeping, and
help support parents of premature
and unwell babies. The group currently
donate knitted items to 220 hospitals
in the UK, Ireland, Scotland and Wales
and although the items are usually sent
straight to the hospitals, they can also
be requested directly from the group.
There isn’t a charge, and you’ll know
each item is hand-made with love.

FUNDRAISING NEWS
To help boost funds, NHAP continuously

raise funds by holding raes and
table-top sales where members of
the group donate hand-made prizes.
A small gesture, but one that helps a
great deal, is the ‘50p Jar’ – members
and followers of the group pop 50p
inside their knitting parcels. This small
contribution helps towards the postage
costs which are paid voluntarily by the
group when they donate knitted items
to charity, and every donation helps.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
To help the NHAP (and get knitting)
join them on Facebook and follow their
activities across social media. Every
month, hundreds of hats, cardigans,
blankets and bootees are donated to
the various causes supported. There’s
always a demand and NHAP are always
in need of more helpers!
