Rocksteady Studios
is ditching the cowl
for its long-in-
development new
game. Suicide
Squad: Kill The
Justice League may be set in the
same universe as the developer’s
Batman: Arkham series but we’ll be
playing as Harley
Quinn, King Shark,
Deadshot,
and Captain
Boomerang in this
all-new game.
Heading to
PlayStation 5 in
2022, this game puts four-player
co-op up front, though you can play
the entire story campaign solo and
hot-swap between the four infamous
team members.
Protagonist and antagonist
Amanda Waller has planted
explosives in the heads of our
unlikely heroes; DC’s super villains
reluctantly become part of Waller’s
secretive Task Force X. We
anticipate all is not what it seems.
“This is a continuation of the
Arkhamverse. You’ll see a lot of the
through-threads and the storylines
of those games come to fruition in
this game,” says
Sefton Hill,
co-founder and
game director
at Rocksteady
Games, during
Suicide Squad’s DC
FanDome reveal.
The game features the DNA of the
metroidvania-inspired Batman trilogy
but with new narrative and gameplay
innovations to bring Rocksteady’s
ideas up to date.
Rocksteady has chosen the
Suicide Squad because it has a
history of character-led gameplay.
“It’s all about that heart and soul of
the characters that we want to
bring to life,” explains Hill. “Suicide
Squad really spoke to us because
of how fascinating these flawed
characters are, and the fact it’s
[about] fusing these characters
together. When you’re creating a
game you’re building a universe and
you want to build it with real heart
and soul inside it, and that’s what
really inspired us to make the
Suicide Squad game.”
SQUAD GOALS
The game will combine the studio’s
trademark narrative-driven
gameplay with new third-person
shooting. Taking place in an
open-world Metropolis, each
character has unique abilities,
weapons, gear, and melee attacks
to upgrade, and different ways to
